LIFE IN LEWISVILLE

Lewis is a prominent surname associated with greatness in a variety of fields. American history has Meriweather Lewis of Lewis and Clark legend. Literature has Sinclair Lewis, track has Carl Lewis, and boxing has Lennox Lewis. Huey Lewis is to rock and roll what Jerry Lewis was to comedy a generation ago. There are so many Lewis' of fame that some use their middle name like Jerry Lee Lewis and Daniel Day Lewis. Even Evangelicalism has its own Lewis with notoriety - C. S. Lewis of Oxford University has touched the lives of millions with his apologetics and Chronicles of Narnia.

Not to be outdone, the Great Plains International Region has its own Lewis of legend and stature: our very own-
Dave Lewis!
Yoda of technology and accounting
Viceroy of video games
Gandolph of fantasy football
And pictured here as the Master of the Minivan.

Dave was even born and raised in a town associated with evangelical education and football- Wheaton, Illinois, home of the "Ice Man" Red Grange. Dave came to know the Lord at the tender age of 6 when he prayed to receive Jesus in his heart with his Mom at bedtime. Twelve years later, he left the comfort of home to go to the Wheaton of the Rockies (from the shadows of the Galloping Ghost to the stomping grounds of Whizzer White), the bastion of conservatism known as the University of Colorado at Boulder.

A lesson learned over my years on staff is that God has things covered, but He still allows us to be a part of His plan.
David Lewis
Grreat Plains Regional Office
Boulder, Colorado

Dave survived the spiritual cultural clash and connected with Campus Crusade at CU. He graduated in the winter of 1997 and came on STINT for a year in Spain. He returned stateside to join full time staff in 1999 and served at CU for four and a half years before switching to the regional office two and a half years ago. "The things I enjoy most about being on staff are the friends, time for spiritual growth, and changing the world for Christ." Below is Dave with his lovely wife Emily, their two boys, and all the cars Dave has won playing fantasy football.

As you read his profile section by clicking his face in the right margin you will see Dave has also used his interests and passions to be a fisher of men. "One of my best ministry memories involves hanging out with guys in the ministry at CU. One time I was following up some contact cards and the guy I was going to meet with was in his room playing Goldeneye (n64 video game). I walked in and played a few games where I totally killed him and then walked out, because he had to go to class. Well that guy not only recommitted his life to Christ over the next four years, but led a Bible study and was the emcee of our weekly meeting. Also, I still have contact with him today and we play the XBox 360 online with some of our other friends."

Who would have thought XBox 360 would be a better tracking system for 100% sent than peoplesoft? Only a genius with the tech IQ of a CS Lewis.

Congratulations to Laura Krokos who persevered and correctly identified the gravel road of the month pictured below from the country of South Africa. Your copy of "The Holy Wild" by Mark Buchanan (our book of the month) is in the proverbial cyber-mail....
